Group Twelve Productions and author Terry Newman have joined forces to create a film adaptation of her novel Rewrites of the Heart. In this romantic comedy JJ Spritely, a twenty-eight-year-old, widowed, history professor turned romance writer, awakens to find the lead characters in her book in progress have leapt off the pages; Alex Zurich and Blake Teasdale are alive and sitting on JJ’s couch.

During a break at a book signing, JJ meets Professor Kenn Cooper in the history aisle of a bookstore.  Kenn proceeds to denigrate romance novels and the women who read them. Alex and Blake cannot return to the pages of their book until JJ finds her perfect love who of course is Kenn.
